Great Hard Drive Enclosure at a very low price
David (LITTLETON, CO) 4/10/2012 7:53 AM
I purchased this drive enclosure 2 years ago and it worked so well, I just bought 2 more. Super simple method to install your own 2.5" IDE PATA drive inside and then just plug it in to the USB port. No other wires or power supply. I have many different windows operating systems, even back to Windows 95 on one laptop that refuses to quit on me. This drive will interface with the USB drivers in Windows XP on up. (Not sure if it will work on a Windows 2000 OS or not). I haven't found the right drivers yet to make any "memory device" (Flash Drives, HDD, etc) work for me yet with Win 98 FE however. Of course there is no USB support for Win 95, so that's a given exclusion. I just used one of these enclosures to temporarily hold my 4.0 GB Win 98 FE HDD (FAT32) and another enclosure to temporarily hold my 40 GB upgrade HDD (formatted to FAT32), and then plugged them both into my WinXP laptop (runnning its hard drive system on NTFS) to clone the Win98 to my new drive. It worked perfectly. Now my old Win98 laptop has a 40 GB hard drive, which is more than enough capacity for use in a Win98 OS. I am using my other Inland u-Jam enclosure case for a 250 GB IDE (PATA)/100 drive for backups and it works perfectly every time on my WinXP and Win7 OS desktops & laptops. In conclusion, as long as you are running Windows XP and newer OS, you will have no trouble using these great enclosures. I highly recommend this drive enclosure to anyone wanting excellent performance at low cost.
